A delay monitoring method for up-link flows in IEEE 802.11e EDCA networks

چکیده
We present an analytical framework to model the sending queue of an IEEE 802.11 EDCA wireless station that uses the TXOP limit MAC parameter to send more than one packet in each transmission opportunity. An application of this model to the estimate of packet delay from the number of packets received at the AP in each transmission is presented. This method is well suited to be deployed in an infrastructured WLAN but can be used for any wireless communication based on the EDCA access mechanism. Its main advantage is that it requires neither modifications to the MAC protocol nor cooperation of the wireless STAs. The approach suitability to predict the delay of real time VoIP calls is validated through simulation.

We present in this paper a reliable optimized transmission of H.264 video streaming over IEEE 802.11e Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) based on a Cross-Layer Adaptive Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (CLA-EDCA) MAC architecture. The IEEE 802.11e EDCA offers a prioritized transmission to guarantee the minimum packets delay and drop rate needed for time bound applications, such as VoIP and Video....

Most of the deployed IEEE 802.11e Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) use infrastructure Basic Service Set (BSS) in which an Access Point (AP) serves as a gateway between wired and wireless domains. We present the unfairness problem between the uplink and the downlink flows of any Access Category (AC) in the 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) when the default settings of the ED...

IEEE 802.11e standard has been specified to support differentiated quality of service (QoS), one of the critical issues on the conventional IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs). Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) is the fundamental and mandatory contention-based channel access method of IEEE 802.11e, and delivers traffic based on differentiated Access Categories (ACs). A gen...
متن کاملA QoS OPTIMIZATION IN IEEE 802.11e NETWORKS USING MODIFIED EDCA TECHNIQUE
IEEE 802.11e network standard supports the quality of service through EDCA technique. This technique does not fulfill the requirements of QoS. So in this paper, we have proposed modified EDCA technique to improve the QoS in same IEEE 802.11e networks. In this approach, we have changed Contention Window size. The proposed method is implemented in NS2 and also this should compare with conventiona...
